THE SCHOOL YEAR
The school year at The Arts School is divided into two main sessions, one in the fall and one in the spring. The Arts School also offers lessons in an abbreviated summer session. The 2011-12 school year begins on August 15 and runs through May 25; students will receive a total of 36 lessons. The summer program runs from June 4 through August 10; students will receive 6-8 lessons. The Arts School calendar is coordinated in conjunction with the Prince of Peace Christian School calendar. Tuition will be prorated for lessons starting after the school year has begun.
EXPECTATIONS OF STUDENT PRACTICE TIME
Regular practice outside of the lesson time is essential for continued musical and artistic development. It is recommended that a student practice daily the same amount of time as the lesson, however the actual length of time will be discussed with the instructor on an individual basis.

LESSON TERMINATION
If a student wishes to discontinue his/her private lessons, a 30-day written notice is required. The student will be financially responsible for the lessons that occur within the 30 days from the date that the notice is given, whether or not the student chooses to attend the lessons. The registration fee is nonrefundable.
MAKE-UP LESSONS/PUNCTUALITY
The instructor must be notified directly if a student expects to miss a lesson. Make-up lessons are not given for missed lessons nor is tuition refunded for lessons missed by the student. If the student is late, the instructor is not under any obligation to extend the lesson beyond the scheduled ending time or reschedule the lost time. If the instructor is late, the instructor must either extend the ending time of the lesson or reschedule the lost time.
Lessons will not be made up if they are missed or denied due to late payments. The student is responsible for paying for all lessons, regardless of student attendance. Lessons not completed by the end of the year due to instructor absence will be credited to the student. If a 30-minute lesson is made up and combined with another 30-minute lesson to create a 60-minute lesson, tuition will be the rate of two 30-minute lessons.
RECITALS AND PERFORMANCES
The Arts School at Prince of Peace is dedicated to seeing each student realizing their full potential and glorifying God with their artistic gifts. And for that reason, performance opportunities that serve as a testimony to each student's hard work occur throughout the year. It is a wonderful experience for family and friends to enjoy what the students have learned and can be a rewarding opportunity for the students. Students may also participate in local festivals, competitions, and state theory exams if those are avenues that interest the student, provided the student is adequately prepared.
PROGRESS REPORTS
Instructors will provide adult students and parents of students under the age of 18 with written goals at the beginning of each semester and progress reports at the end of each semester. Please contact your instructor directly if you would like to arrange a conference. Instructors reserve the right to adjust the goals for individual students during the course of the year.
GRIEVANCE PROCEDURES
Please feel free to discuss with your instructor any concerns or difficulties that you or your student might be experiencing. If a circumstance cannot be resolved with the instructor or you feel that an instructor is not meeting the needs of the student, please contact the Arts School office immediately, as well as in writing.
